Mental Health & Addiction Services: What to Expect

To talk to somebody about services in the region please call Sunrise Health Region Mental Health and Addiction Services at:

Phone: 306-786-0558

Toll Free: 1-888-989-8444

When you contact Mental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS), you will be connected with an intake worker whose role is to gather information from you, assess your needs and connect you with the right service(s). You may be asked to leave a message and the intake worker will phone you back within 24 business hours. If you have been referred for services, you can expect to receive a phone call from the intake worker who will advise you of the referral and ask if you are consenting to services. If the intake worker is unable to contact you, a confidential letter will be sent to your home address asking you to contact MHAS.

The intake worker will ask you for information such as your name, health services number, date of birth, contact information as well as next of kin. Following that, you will be asked a series of questions that will assist the intake worker in determining the best care options to meet your current needs.

The intake worker uses this information to assess your individual situation and determine which services will best meet your current needs. This may or may not include individual counselling appointments.  You may also be referred to one or more of the many services that are provided both by Mental Health and Addiction Services and those provided by organizations in your community. While all clients are important and will be seen, some require care more quickly than others. The intake worker uses provincial assessment tools and guidelines in these decisions.
